-
Complete the
current project before selling the next one.
-
Tell the client
the full and accurate story, not just what he or she wants to hear.
-
Do what it takes
to make a project succeed regardless of the contract.
-
Inform
the client when we observe behaviors,
patterns, or activities that are damaging to the organization.
-
Leave when it is time
to go and turn down work we cannot do well.
-
Develop alternatives
that work for the client and avoid canned answers.
-
Define in detail
what we will deliver and the actions we will take.
-
Teach clients
and leave them more capable than when we came. Model the appropriate
behaviors they need.
-
Get immersed in
the client to the point of automatically thinking "we" during our time there.
But remain objective.
-
Continue to learn
from our clients and others. Use that knowledge to develop innovative
solutions to client's problems.
-
Do not accept
additional work from a client unwilling to follow through on implementing
approved recommendations or who mistreats employees.
-
Never allow a
project to be called "The Quantum Project".
-
Never violate confidentiality.
Do not share information with outsiders without permission.
-
Never badmouth
other consultants to the client; just point out the differences and the
advantages we bring.
- Have fun!
