Our Projects
Quantum and Carol Rady, President, have been
involved in a number of interesting and challenging projects for clients, large
and small. Here are a few categories of projects. Click on the

Business Engineering & Invention
Quantum worked with the President of a small,
commercial property & casualty internet start-up company and developed its
strategic business model, comprehensive business plan and subsequently obtained
full funding. Carol Rady, President of Quantum and another Quantum
consultant became members of Executive Management in 2001.
They
designed and developed 58 new web-based processes and 275 transaction web
screens that simultaneously supported multiple agency and policyholder
relationship models. The designed functionality excited agents and was beyond
all competition, even four years after design. Designed the most comprehensive
use of customer relationship management software ever seen by software designer
to deliver break-through service while maintaining lean staffing. Company was
sold in 2003.
Business Reengineering
As Head of Reengineering for the Personal Lines
P & C Strategic Business Unit ($2 billion) for a Fortune 15 Multi-line
Insurance Company, Mrs. Rady developed and managed the design process to its
completion. She then assumed the role of internal, change management consultant
through the development and implementation of producer, employee, transition,
education, communications and alignment strategies.
The completed project produced annual savings of
$67 million (85% of the original cost) in the delivery system while improving
overall service and employee satisfaction. It was one of seven projects
highlighted in Dr. Michael Hammer’s 1995 “Leadership in Reengineering” video.
The business was sold to another major insurance company and its model became
the standard for the new organization.

Process Redesign or Design
Designed
and facilitated process redesign project’s design and transition planning phases
of a $500 million premium Commercial Lines P & C company to gain capacity
to grow 10% annually if desired, to reduce combined ratio by 4 points through
growth and expense ratio improvement and to improve ease of doing business with
agents. Design was completed on a timely basis within budget.
Quantum then developed and used an external audit approach to assure effective
implementation of Quick Victories. Initial implementation of two redesigned
processes produced significant underwriting capacity gains in field offices as
well as an $80 million revenue increase and a greatly reduced loss and expense
ratios in the small commercial arena.
The
company postponed implementing the mid-market organizational and structural
recommendations too long and systems were delayed by two years. The division
was sold. New owners rapidly adopted the acquired company’s new
processes and systems and is expanding its successful small commercial model.

Large Scale Transformation - A Merger
Consulted on a merger of three Health
Maintenance Plans ($2 billion revenue, 1+ million members) including best
practices development for longer term implementation, systems functional gap
analysis, organizational alignment, implementation planning, operational
readiness for two major systems conversions, integration management and general
consulting on change. Synergies of 20% and profitability were achieved within
two years. Implementing the recommended processes and policy changes in the
claim organization allowed them to reduce a significant backlog in record time.

Small Business Consulting
Quantum provided facilitation of key meetings prior
to the establishment of a partnership in a wholesale nursery & grower business.
The meetings produced the business model and general agreements for the
business. In addition, Carol Rady, worked with the organization to market
and enhance its agri-entertainment division and they doubled the attendance in
less than 30 days. A new marketing website was developed. The business broke even in its first year.

Marketing Website Development
Quantum
worked with several small organizations to produce professional websites.
In one, Quantum developed the site, did the majority of the writing, and
lay-out. Client is very pleased with the site.
In another site, Quantum took the information from
the current site, developed a new look and feel, and edited the materials to make
them more professional and marketing oriented to complement the site.
Within the first week, a client came through the site. The owner
is now recommending Quantum to their professional organization.
